Nanine Linning - Archive Series (2008 - 2021)

A journey through the creative mind of Nanine Linning in which she is sharing her personal vision on recurring themes in her body of work and insights into her creative processes. In this 20 minute long video the viewer will travel through many of her award winning, multi disciplinairy works in which she explores her dreams, her vivid poetic imagery as well as her physical explosive dance language and collaboration with her dancers. Recurring themes in her work are animalistic instincts, psychology and human behaviour, vulnerability, her desire to challenge gravity, philosophical question around life and death and her desire to discover immortality.

Part 1 - The Animalistic Creature
In this chapter Linning speaks about animalistic instincts within human behaviour, physical domination and manipulation. Part 2 - The Unwritten Body

Part 3 - The Boundless Species
Here Linning speaks about her dreams of being without gravity and how her training as diver influenced her in how she works with her dancers to create the sense of weightlessness. With excerpts of DOUBLE HELIX (2019) and ENDLESS SONG OF SILENCE (2019), ZERO for Theater und Orchester Heidelberg (2012) as well as ZERO danced by Staatsballett Thüringen (2019). Part 4 - The Hidden Figure
In this chapter Linning speaks about anonimity and the physical power of the body to express without identity of the face. Part 5 - The Eternal Being

Part 6 - The Invisible Other
In this chapter she speaks about human behaviour, the fear and curiosity of the other, the mystery of shadow’s and hidden spaces, our inner worlds.  With excerpts of SILVER (2015) and KHÔRA (2016) created for Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, ENDLESS SONG OF SILENCE created with her own Dance Company Nanine Linning (2019) and REVOLT created for Stuttgart Ballet (2019). Part 7 - The Morphing Body
In this chapter Linning speaks about her need for rituals and cycles and through transformation become someone else.
